Statistical analysis is based on the single-factor ANalysis Of VAriance (ANOVA). We assume that all replications are independent, which means that the entire process from tissue collection to RNA extraction, labeling and hybridization is done in parallel processing lines. Multiple hybridization of the same labeled RNA or dye swaps can be used as sub-replications, however they are averaged by the NIA Array Analysis software.
